What Is a Weighbridge?
A weighbridge, or a truck scale as it’s also often called, is a large machine used to weigh industrial vehicles and their contents. It is called such as it’s similar to a ‘bridge’ in a way that trucks drive over it as its contents are weighed.
Weighbridges are extremely essential machines in industries like mining and agriculture, where large amounts of material need to be weighed with complete accuracy.
How does it usually work? The main idea is quite simple. The weight of the vehicle is recorded first. Then, the goods are loaded onto the vehicle. The vehicle is then weighed again. The difference between these two numbers equals the weight of the goods.
Today, the best, most advanced weighbridges are fitted with high-tech solutions that automate the calculation and data recording processes. This makes daily operations much more efficient.
